About Inv Softworks Kryptel
Inv Softworks Kryptel lets you Encrypt and Store your sensitive files in containers for safety and backup purposes. There is no restriction to the number and size of files and folders that each container may contain, and you can selectively decrypt or edit a few files only or just peek inside the container using Kryptel Browser which has an explorer like interface.
The Encryption process is easy: either right-click on a file / folder and select ‘Encrypt’; else drag it to the Kryptel desktop icon! You can then keep the containers anywhere you wish – burn to a DVD, move to network storage or external drive, or even upload to an online drive.
Kryptel performs a verification after every operation to guarantee that the just created encrypted container can be successfully decrypted, so in case the computer crashes in the middle of encryption step, no data will be lost. Nevertheless, the Kryptel Data Recovery module lets you recover your data, in case the container becomes corrupted.
The Integrated file shredder module lets you delete files unrecoverably through Single or Multi-pass shredding. Kryptel’s password window simplifies password entering to the extent that tiny typing errors are less likely to happen, and also shows a dialog with a password strength meter. It also includes a Virtual keyboard with support for a large set of languages to enter the password. There is also a Password Manager which keeps user’s passwords and keys in secure storage and serves them over encrypted communication channel. Kryptel also supports use of binary media-based keys and hardware Yubikeys.
Kryptel uses NIST-approved 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cipher. More other well-reputed ciphers are available for advanced users. The software can work in FIPS 140-2 compliant mode, using FIPS-validated CryptoAPI encryption engine. It also compresses data efficiently using ZIP and BZIP2 data compression. Kryptel supports 64-bit processing and can use multi-core processors to speed up the encryption process.
You can do all the GUI level operations using the command-line interface, which makes it possible to do batch mode encryption and server-side processing. You can make a portable version of the software to run from a USB hard drive.
